All Busy C’s kaiako / educators are fully trained or in training in Early Childhood Education. “The teachers are skilled, committed professionals. All the qualified staff are working towards registration. They reflect on their practice at regular planning meetings, and in the appraisal process.” (ERO 2007)
James Fisher
Hello, I’m James Fisher. I am the manager at Busy C’s and enjoy working with the children, families & the preschool team. I have three children: Meg, Will, and Macky, and a dog Aggie. Caro and I have lived in Lyttelton almost 20 years and wouldn’t live anywhere else. I struggle to do yoga on a weekly basis, thrive on tennis, walk the dog, love all aspects of all sports, and plan to swim the Auckland Harbour…
Caro Davidson
Kia Ora. I’m Caro Davidson. I am Busy C’s licencee, and have been since it’s inception in 1995. My partner, James Fisher, took over the daily management of the preschool after the birth of our 3rd child - Macky - in January ‘98. I am passionate about early childhood and education, and am actively involved with Busy C’s happenings. My background is nursing and at present I’m incorporating some work at the Sexual Health Centre, CDHB. I live with my whanau in Lyttelton and we celebrate & support the diverse and unique culture that makes Lyttelton such a wonderful place. I enjoy walking in the hills with the dog on a daily basis; being on the water in summer, heading for the mountains in winter, and generally recreating all over the peninsula. Books, art & movies are a luxurious pastime.
Bethan Yates
Kia ora, my name is Bethan Yates. I joined the whanau here at Busy C’s in February '09 and am absolutely delighted to have found such a loving and energetic place to be. Indeed a treat. I graduated in Dunedin 2000 with an early childhood degree but decided to try my hand in the music/hospitality industry. I have worked in Montessori schools and with teenage mums, their children and whanau, this was a wonderful experience also. I live over the hill in South Brighton in a little 1930’s beach cottage well decked out with antiques and retro paraphernalia. I enjoy my organic garden, walking on the beach, making music and painting. I look forward to sharing with you the delight of your little ones.
Suzanne Richards
Kia ora, my name is Suzanne Richards, and I have been part of the Busy C’s team since November 2006 working mainly with our lovely under twos. I graduated from the University of Canterbury in December 2007 with a Graduate Diploma of Teaching and Learning. Originally from England, I made my way over to New Zealand with my partner Justin in 2000. It was only meant to be a short stop over on our round the world trip, but we never quite made it out!! We currently live in Lyttelton (just across the street) with our two fluffy cats Ella and Sashenka. When I’m not at Busy C’s I enjoy being outside, catching up with friends and playing the ukulele and flute. I am passionate about working in early childhood and providing a warm, nurturing environment for our tamariki and whaanau. It is great to be part of such a wonderful team and caring community :-)
Michelle Woood
My name is Michelle and I'm really happy to once again have a permanent job back at Busy C's. I have been coming and going from here for 14 years and all four of my children have at some point attended this wonderful preschool. I have worked in education for 21 years in both the primary and early childhood sectors. I am very passionate about Lyttelton having grown up here myself and still having many "local" family and friends. I live in My Pleasant with my gorgeous family; my husband Kelly, my daughters Holly 18m Leah 16 and Lilly 9, and my son Isaac 2.
Sam Warland
Kiaora! My name is Sam Warland and I have been working at Busy C’s since October 2006. Before I studied for my bachelor of Teaching and Learning (Early Childhood), I was employed in Marine Tourism. I have lived in Lyttelton for 6 years and love it to bits! I enjoy Mountain biking, learning to surf (when it’s warm!), playing Ukulele with a local group, and making the most of all this wonderful community has to offer.
Aggie
I’m Aggie. I am a spaniel / poodle cross breed – known as a ‘Spoodle’ and I live with James & Caro & our whanau. I gave birth to seven pups in June 2008 (5 brown & 2 black) and many of them can be found still in Lyttelton. Jacques has grown up with us while we’re waiting for his owner to move back to Lyttelton… I love walking each day - in the hills, or at the beach. I love the water. I love people and am very good natured and intelligent. I spent a lot of time at preschool when younger, and now just visit occasionally. We have a policy about animals in preschool – looking at the benefits and learning opportunities for children around caring for an animal & being safe.
